What does your business provide to its customers? Clogging, ballet and jazz dance lessons. Music lessons including: violin, guitar, drums and piano. Vocal lessons and Taekwondo.
What are some features that make your business unique? We offer a variety of classes from age 4 to adult. We have a monthly family plan available for members of the immediate family for $120 a month. It’s important to me as a person and also for the people that I teach that you always feel you are improving and learning in order to achieve the next level.
Give us a brief history of your business: I started teaching clogging 16 years ago in order to get in better physical shape and decided to expand into my own studio so that I would have the space to dedicate to activities that I enjoy. I have studied and taught music for several years and soon added music lessons. My sons wanted to pursue martial arts and there was no program in Pocahontas at the time so I found an instructor and 8 years later here I am teaching taekwondo as well. I also wanted to be able to offer something for kids and adults to do after school that is fun, educational and physically beneficial.
What do you see for the future of your business? I hope to continue to be able to grow and always continue to improve the quality of our services. I think it is important that we provide programs in our own community that help us and our youth to learn and work toward our potential.
Additional Information: In the past year we have formed at non profit organization called Marr Street Productions that is a motivational music program that targets middle school and junior high students. The program is presented in a rock like concert setting and addresses issues confronting our youth today. In addition to running a studio, I have spent the last 30 years working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in public schools and in private practice.
I could not praise the work that Marilyn does with her studio enough. My children all attend classes at Marilyn’s. Not only have they learned a skill, they have made friends and have wonderful role models. I recommend her classes to anyone!
