Doni Martin, CEO
Number of Years in Business:
What does your business provide to its customers?
We provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages. We have an array of services including education, transportation, case management, Medicaid Waiver, personal care, therapies, food service, direct service supervision and others.
What are some features that make your business unique?
Our services target the population of individuals with developmental disabilities; therefore, we are able to make individualized adaptations for services based on the specific need of the client. We are one of only a few agencies who provide this type of individualized placement for educational services to school age children.
Give us a brief history of your business:
We opened in November of 1972 as Pocahontas Day Service Center. Eight years ago the agency name was changed to The Doni Martin Center for Developmental Services. We began with two staff members working with 9 clients part-time. We now serve about 90 clients with a staff of more than 75 in all of Randolph and Clay counties and part of Lawrence County.
What do you see for the future of your business?
Our services and the number of clients enrolled in our programs continues to grow so we will need more space in the future.
As a private non-profit organization, part of our operation funds are required to come from local donations, mostly for matching funds for other funding.
