Dear Friends and colleagues
The BRTC Adult Education Department’s summer classroom schedule through the end of June is as follows:
Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Monday and Tuesday evenings, 6:00 -8:00 p.m.
We are happy to assist students who need to prepare to take the GED Test (now on computer). We have a voucher system in Arkansas whereby if a student enrolls with in an accredited program like us, the GED Ready Test (what we used to call the Official Practice Test) fee is waived completely and the GED Test fee is absorbed by Adult Ed except for a small $16 fee—as opposed to $24 for the GED Ready and $120 for the GED Test if someone doesn’t want to enroll and study with us. Unfortunately at this time of year there are always a few high school seniors who fall short of qualifying for graduation or others who decide the traditional high school route is not what’s best for them. We’re here to help if they choose to earn their GED this summer so they can stay on track for college or technical training this fall.
Remember, there are many unaccredited “Earn Your GED Here” web sites which charge high fees for a “guaranteed GED Diploma.” MANY people fall prey to these scams each year. Please encourage your clients, students, and others to come and see us. We’re happy to talk to anyone and answer questions about the program and process. All our classes and resource materials (books, etc.) are free.
Besides the GED, we also assist those who need to learn basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office’s Word and Excel. Additionally we can assist individuals who need the Microsoft IT Academy certification in a variety of courses.
I recently became certified as a Career Development Facilitator or “Career Coach” as it’s commonly called, and I’m here to assist individuals become more employable by building a great resume, learning essential job-getting and keeping skills, searching for jobs and/or counseling on possible career or educational directions. I’m also happy to assist in directing individuals to BRTC’s recruiter, Sarah Waltermire for tours and other helpful information about BRTC.
We are also glad to help individuals who wish to enroll in college or technical training by helping them prepare for the COMPASS Test. We even assist individuals who may have earned a high school diploma or GED, yet have forgotten skills they need to assist children or grandchildren with homework.
For more information about our program and services, please email me or contact our office at(870) 248-4130. We’ll gladly give you a tour of our facility and answer any questions you have. If you need schedules for distribution to clients, let me know and I’ll deliver them to you.
