The BRTC Adult Education Program will host a WAGE Employment Training Introductory Meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27 at the BRTC Adult Education/Continuing Education Building on the Pocahontas campus. In order to provide this service in our community, we must organize an advisory committee as well as have partners–employers and businesses who will participate.
Employers often stress the lack of foundation job skills their employees exhibit. The WAGE program is based on 112 basic skills competencies in communication, math, reading and writing (see attachment), as well as computer literacy, workplace maturity/good employee habits, and other educational areas which our partners identify.
Advantages for employers who incorporate the WAGE program include increased productivity, job specific training, improved basic skills, employees/potential employees can attend training individually during both day and evening class times, and there is no cost to the employer/WAGE partner–this is a FREE program offered through the BRTC Adult Education Program.
There are six certificates which will be offered: Employability, Industrial, Customer Service Level I, Customer Service Level II, Bank Teller and Office Technology. More information can be found at the following: http://ace. arkansas.gov/adultEducation/ programs/WAGE/Pages/fastFacts. aspx .
Please attend this meeting on August 27 to learn more about how WAGE can help increase productivity and improve your business.
