I attended the Stroll the Square Open House and Gallery Walk last night, with my Mom, in Historic Downtown Pocahontas. Gallery on the Square, Black River Beads & Pottery and Treasure Trunk were the businesses involved. I had a wonderful time visiting with all the folks. If you have not visited these local businesses, you have missed out! We have very talented people in Randolph County. Jean Pearcy, Gallery on the Square owner, Kim Matheny, Johanna Smith, Linda Bowlin and other artists have such talents, the ones that I can only dream of having! I have been told my talent is “The Gift of Gab” that, I do have! We have Black River Beads & Pottery, owners, James & Amanda Tinker…what do I have to say about them…WOW!!!! Such a talented family! We watched James demonstrating Wheel Thrown Pottery and making Flameworked Glass Beads. James and Amanda’s son, Alex is also very talented. He sold two items he had made himself, a pair of earrings and a piece of pottery! Watch out Mom and Dad!!! There are various artists that have items for sale at Black River Beads & Pottery also. The Treasure Trunk had some very nice items also. Ben and JoAnn Jansen are the friendly folks you will find there. The store is not large but, packed with items for your home! If you have not visited these businesses, please do, you will be glad you did! Tell them Teresa at the Chamber of Commerce sent you!
